It's Casual Friday! Sam and Emma speak with Heather Digby Parton, contributing writer at Salon.com and proprietor of the blog Hullabaloo, to round up the week in news. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Israel’s most recent massacre in Gaza, the EU resuming funding to UNRWA, Biden and Trump beefing over who’s more of a fascist on the border, the spiraling GOP, a major endorsement for “uncommitted,” IVF legislation, the IRS, Tesla’s racism problem, and the NYT’s journalistic malpractice, before parsing through an Israeli Spox.’s attempt to spin their massacre at a humanitarian aid truck to be the fault of Hamas and the Palestinians. Digby then joins, diving right into Biden’s dwindling support just months ahead of a rather symbolic Chicago Democratic Convention, before diving deeper into the incredible movement organizing for the “uncommitted” protest vote against Biden and what it can achieve. Next, Digby, Sam, and Emma parse through Biden’s right-wing pivot on immigration, exploring how it completely undermines his role as a leader, why capitulating to the right never works electorally, and the insanity of granting the executive branch greater powers around immigration ahead of a possible Trump presidency. Wrapping up, they briefly run through Trump’s major victory with the Supreme Court taking up his ballot access case, and what to expect from it moving forward.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch Comer and Co. get hammered over the GOP’s complete failure of an impeachment case against Biden, getting raked by everyone from CNN to Newsmax, and parse through Taylor Lorenz’s recent interview of unremarkable bigot Chaya Raichik aka Libs of TikTok. Jay from West Michigan dives into the divide over the “uncommitted” protest vote, Keith gives some insider knowledge on Greg Gutfeld, and Weston from Pittsburgh on the question of voting in the electoral college, plus, your calls and IMs!
