3192 - Sam Live From The Mass Torts Conference, Las Vegas! Day 1

Sam is coming to us LIVE from the Mass Torts Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada! First, he and Emma run through updates on Israel’s assault on Gaza in the wake of Hamas’ terror attacks, the House GOP’s behind-closed-doors speakership battle, the Fed’s SILENCING of PATRIOT George Santos, and electoral battles in Ohio and North Carolina, before parsing through Biden’s recent statements on the Israel-Gaza conflict, and the speakership battle between Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise. Then, Sam is joined by various tort lawyers from the law firm of Levin Papantonio Rafferty to discuss their ongoing cases taking on some of the most heinous (alleged) lies and omissions perpetrated by corporations. First, Chris Tisi walks through the long-ongoing case against Johnson and Johnson for the myriad health defects that came from the talc in their Baby Powder formula – an issue of which J&J was well aware and actively sought to keep secret. After exploring the timeline of the case against J&J, Tisi dives into the company’s manipulation of US bankruptcy law to completely avoid paying the settlement of the case via the “Texas Two-Step,” and how he’s pushing to hold them accountable (once again). Sara Pappantonio then explores her case against the preterm-infant formulas of various companies, including Abbott Labs and Johnson and Johnson, for knowingly employing the use of cow’s milk despite preterm infants’ inability to digest it, resulting in devastating cases of necrotizing enterocolitis. Chris Paulos, next, dives into the prevalence of the active money laundering schemes run by massive banks for illegal operations – from terrorist organizations to gangs – and the cat-and-mouse catch-up game that has developed with lawyers and regulators chasing after these illegal operations as the banks attempt to find newer loopholes. Last, Cameron Stephenson tackles his developing case on Ozempic’s unnamed off-label side-effects that have come to light since the drug took off in popularity, including stomach paralysis and gastroparesis of various permanence, and what the early stages of these cases look like. Sam and Emma also touch on Nancy Mace’s quintessential theatre-kid routine on The House Floor, RFK’s evolution into libertarianism (and Trump’s fear of that), responses to Steve Scalise’s likely speakership nomination, and RFK’s Israeli propaganda.
