Historian of paramilitary social movements and author of "Bring the War Home: The White Power Movement and Paramilitary America," Kathleen Belew joins us today to discuss her book. How a 1979 Greensboro, NC was a spiritual precursor to the recent Charlottesville, Virginia white supremacist meet-up. White nationalism as an unpatriotic desire for an Aryan Nation as opposed to America as a multicultural state. How America's foreign military deployments fed white power movements in the US, in all the 20th century conflicts but particularly Vietnam. US failure in Vietnam and the sense of betrayal on the right. What is the "business model" of white power movements and how is it propagated? Our collective amnesia of the Oklahoma City bombings.
